CLASS CONTENT

STAGE THREE works in direct tandem with STAGE TWO: Character Preparation.

In this module, actors take the monologue and scene developed in STAGE TWO and put them fully on their feet. Working live with a scene partner, actors actively test and apply the principles of Immediate Acting in real time.

Across this set of classes, actors will explore multiple approaches to both monologue and scene work as a means of revealing a specific, cohesive, and fully three-dimensional character—one that clearly registers with both the audience and their scene partner(s). Drawing on the character’s Psychological Profile developed in STAGE TWO, actors will rehearse while rigorously testing Scene Tasks and Tactics, evaluating which combinations most effectively serve the character and the given circumstances.

This module also integrates core principles from STAGE ONE: Meisner Intensive Workshop, including:

• Active listening to their partner in order to remain present and available for immediate and instinctive response

• Creating and sustaining a genuine sense of urgency that continually engages both partner and audience

• Experimenting with various emotional, physical, and imaginative preparations prior to entering the monologue or scene

• Maintaining strong focus while allowing for flexible circles of attention as the scene evolves moment-to-moment

Through disciplined active listening, actors learn to let the scene do them, enabling spontaneous, instinctive discoveries and decisions to arise organically. The emphasis remains on truthful behaviour, responsiveness, and real transaction—transforming prepared character work into living, dynamic action.

Upon completion of STAGE THREE, you will be ready to move on to STAGE FOUR: Character Transformation

This stage is offered live over two consecutive weekends. These classes will be intensive in nature and run from Thursday through Saturday 10:00 – 17:00 each day with a one-hour lunch break.
